"We're all the same, all made from atoms. We, humans, aren't any more intelligent than any other animal, but to be honest with you, we might be the least intelligent animal on Earth, for we were the ones who destroyed it" We are Homo Sapiens. If there wasn't Homo Sapiens, allergies wouldn't be such a thing. If there wasn't Homo Sapiens, over-hunting wouldn't be such a thing. If there wasn't Homo Sapiens, animals' lives weren't to be wrecked by litter or plastic. Maybe we should just take a break from life and think about what is happening to Earth right now. How many man-made stuff are being constructed right now? What impact has electronics do to our lives? Nobody would have been in a need of glasses if electronics weren't a thing. Sometimes, electronics were to spread the word about things. Today, we will spread the word about Earth. About saving it. Credit to the National Geographic for the book cover. ~ Some days, no matter how I stop up my ears, I still hear the bell's knell... ~ This book of poetry explores and exposes my personal struggle, as I witness an entire society turn its back to avoid seeing how its behaviour impacts our fragile, beleaguered Earth. As unspeakably destructive consumerism lays waste to much of the planet's biosphere, humans are (ever so) slowly waking up to the harm and true cost of our way of life. We see yet refuse to see at the same time. We are loath to give up our creature comforts, our toe-hold in the climb for status, our relative sense of security, even though Life on the planet is threatened with irreversible harm, perhaps even annihilation. We've forgotten where we come from and no longer question the lie passed down to us from generation to generation. That we deserve to live like royalty at the expense of all other forms of life. That we are the ultimate Masters of the World. Holding on to this conviction, despite what we know in our hearts and minds, will soon send us spiralling into a chain reaction of disasters. As chaos overtakes our planet, we will rue the day we turned our backs and simply let it happen. What will we tell our children and grandchildren? Read at your own risk!!
