Niki Nishimira is a trucker. He spends the vast majority of his year in a truck, driving along trans-nation highways. Park Sunghoon is an inn owner. Diamond Bed and Breakfast has been pretty successful over the years with the influx of truckers, especially late at night. When Niki arrives in Sunghoon's inn, they exchange a few coherent words and Niki goes to bed. The next morning, he breaks his truck (not on purpose.) He now has to spend at least a week, if not more, at the inn in order to fix the truck. When he and Sunghoon hit it off, he discovers a little hidden tidbit about Sunghoon that only makes him more attractive. When (not so) light flirting ends up flipped over on the side of the highway, Niki needs to fix their relationship before he leaves forever. *author's note in first chapter*

When Sunghoon summoned Riki to be his familiar, he hadn't expected anything else that happened. He left his tower knowing the council would never forgive him. Now, every road is watched, every spell risks being traced, and the familiar who walks at his side is both his greatest protection and his greatest danger. Riki was never meant to be bound, and staying together means running. Always one step ahead of those who want to drag Sunghoon back into stone and silence. During World War II, a crowded train station is sending soldiers to the front. Riki waits for a train that will evacuate civilians from the city. A soldier approaches her by mistake, thinking she is someone else he planned to meet before deployment. Embarrassed, he apologizes and introduces himself as Sunghoon, but their brief conversation turns into an unexpectedly meaningful connection as the station grows increasingly chaotic. Over the next hour they share stories, fears, and hopes for the future. Just before the trains depart, Sunghoon receives orders that will send him somewhere far more dangerous than he expected. Their goodbye is harder than they thought it would be.
