This is the story of a young boy named Hiccup Horrendous Haddock III. Nobody could've expected that there was more to Hiccup than what he was known for. His father, Stoick the Vast, harbored feelings of shame about him in secret, he was used as a form of persuasion by the village if they didn't join their chief in the search for where the dragons' nest was, but Hiccup soldiered on. It wasn't long before salvation came, though not in the form of a person. It was a dragon, but not just any dragon. When the mystical Night Fury took him under his black leathery wings, providing solace to the boy and protecting him from further harm, he was ready to leave the isle, and take on a new identity of his own with the help of the dragon, whom he dubbed 'Toothless'. Now, he stands as a figure associated with dragons, when he learned those who attacked Berk were forced to raid or die by a tyrannical queen of the nest known as Red Death, the parasite that his grandmother, Cressida Haddock, dubbed 'the Bane of Queens'. It's a disdainful, spiteful title given to her for the ways she killed dragons by devouring them if they didn't bring enough food to feed her in the volcanic hive that they all resided in. Before long, he - alongside many of his newfound allies, will rise up to destroy this very monster whom she, herself, claims to be the destruction of all opposition that threatened her, and restore not only the freedom of the flock she controlled. But end the war, between both Vikings and dragons, that've been in conflict since the Isle of Berk had first been settled on, three hundred years ago.... This is the first of the KOTDR Trilogy. What if after the dragons left, they had to be brought back? If the tribes went to war, and the Hooligans called back the dragons, and trained with their allies to be the best dragonriders yet. What if their enemies have dragons too? Dragons they learnt how to capture because Grimmel survived? And what if the son of the berserker chief cant even BOND with a dragon, let alone tame it- and the daughter of the hooligan chief decides she doesn't WANT a dragon? Because dragons, are MONSTERS. Then what? "Who WAS that?? He took out half our riders in less than five minutes." He gestured madly towards the whimpering riders nursing their cuts and burns, a few still picking leaves out their hair, "I don't know, chief. But people are calling him the phantom rider-" He laughed maniacally, "And the DRAGON?? what type of dragon was that?-" "That was a night fury." They both turned to see tony a few feet away, closing the distance between them as he spoke, "A SHIFTER night fury." so its set around a decade after the third movie, the mc is Virial (im probably going to change that bc its just the first thing i saw), the son of the berserk chief, is 17, and best friends with the daughter of the hooligan chief- her brother does not approve. swearing/violence (maybe)

Hiccup Haddock the third is...to put it bluntly, a useless. While everyone else is out helping in the raids, he's stuck in the forge because he "will cause the least problems" there. He is the runt of the pack, the Fishbone, and the heir to Berk. His father could never be more disappointed in him. The only hope for poor Hiccup, is to kill a dragon. but how? he's so small and they're so big! Well guess what? He shoots down a Night Fury! Yep, he succeeds! He shot down the most feared dragon in History! His inventions aren't all bad! But, what happens when he finally finds the beast and goes to kill it. What happens when he looks into the dragons eyes? What happens when he sees a soul that reflects his own, that looks as frightened as he is? What happens when he cuts the dragon free? what happens when he wins dragon training and has to kill the Nightmare. the answer is, he runs. he runs as far as he can. never to return. - Just to be clear, I do not own the How To Train Your Dragon franchise.
