When Pete Wentz had first come across an eleven-year-old boy named Patrick Stump, he didn’t know that it was all it would take for him to be completely yet unknowingly sucked into Patrick’s world—a world revolving around and seemingly built from all of the mystery and adventure novels, movies and TV shows that Patrick enjoyed so much. Years might have passed by already, but Pete still wasn’t entirely sure how he truly felt for the man who was five years younger than him—and his confusion regarding his sexual preferences and the fact that he had always considered Patrick merely as a best friend and nothing more had only worsened the situation. He knew that he cared for him very much… maybe even a little too much. Everything in their hurricane-like friendship felt so right and so wrong at the same time. Only did Pete fully realize how much Patrick actually meant to him when he found out that the kid suddenly went missing… but left clues along his trail that Pete had to fit together. Maybe Patrick just wanted to play a more complex version of hide-and-seek, after all. *~* “No matter what I do, I could feel myself being drawn towards him, similar to that of a moth to a dancing flame. I would follow it even if I was aware that I might get burned.” © Daphne Reyes (conjurethemockingjay), All Rights Reserved 2014-2015

Shortly after the Carson family moves to the bustling town of Galveston, Texas, Emelise discovers her oldest brother is planning to run away and return to their former home in Arkansas. Emelise attempts to tell her parents when he is leaving, but before she has the chance to do so, they depart for the night, leaving Emelise in charge of her three siblings during a thunderstorm. However, little do the citizens of Galveston know, that thunderstorm quickly turns into one of the worst US Historical Disasters-The Galveston Hurricane. Trapped in their house as the water rises, Emelise and her brothers struggle to survive. Through the pages of her diary, Emelise describes how she desperately tries to keep her brothers alive while searching for her missing parents, all the while bearing the pain and sorrow of being surrounded by death and destruction. I looked towards the hill ahead of us, drenched in both the hole water and my own cold sweat. My hands shook on my thighs. I hate this. I hate the stupid man who caused this. I hate that I'm not with Lucas right now. Lucas! Shit. "Grandpa! We have to go back! I promised him!" "Are you crazy? The water is going to come back any time now we have to get to the top of this hill!" He yelled back at me. "No! I have to! Let me out!" I screamed. I screamed at him with all my might. He kept driving. I turned back straight in my seat and glanced at the buckled "door" of the side by side and glanced back at my grandfather. After a few seconds of hard contemplation, I ripped my seatbelt off, unbuckled the door and jumped. The world had been normal. Things were actually going good for Zoey. She was top of her class with the school year slowly coming to an end. But there was something that caused everything to go into a spiral. A crack in the earth's surface caused lakes and rivers across the United States to aggressively run through towns and cities. Wiping out millions of cars, houses and people. Family, friends, strangers. Killed. And worst of all? The crack in the Earth created a large hole deep into the ground that shoots water comparable to a hurricane every hour for thirty minutes. And Zoey's only half a mile away.
