If Light never found the Death Note, how would his life go? Did the Death Note corrupt Light? Or did it simply remove his restrictions and hand him a weapon? How would L and Light encounter each other without the Death Note? In an alternate timeline where Light never found the Death Note, he's a detective at the NPA exactly as planned. He's faced with a closed room case that he makes extraordinarily fast progress in when L inserts himself into the case, finding the case intriguing. The two clash over who leads the case, trying to see beyond the mask, growing increasingly obsessed with each other. Light's morality is placed under the microscope as the investigation gets more dangerous by the second.
