What if the terminally ill Augustus Waters, from John Green's The Fault in Our Stars, had a choice whether to die of his osteosarcoma and free himself of all the pain or stay with Hazel Grace Lancaster, the love of his life? This is the story of that choice and how it changed the lives of everyone Augustus ever knew.

I used to love music. The way it rang through my ears and slowly made its way into my heart and then slowly but surely into my legs until I dance the night away. I used to enjoy the night adventures. Driving around, going to new places, running around the beach like an idiot, and being with all the people that I thought mattered to me. Now all I hear is the screams of millions and the dark in their eyes. The soul sucking darkness. The way they look so empty but so full of hatred. The way they look at you could make you scared of the dark forever. The screams are ear piercing. As one by one they die. Stabbed, shot, and neck snapped. There is no music or night. There is screams and darkness. I guess that's all my life has come to. And I wouldn't have it any other way.
