Akaashi was the setter at Fukurodani High School. He started playing volleyball mainly because his best friend, Bokuto played as the spiker. They played many champions together and became one of the best pairs in the school. They were very excited about that, but not everything stayed happy. One year later, Bokuto had a terrible illness and had to go to the hospital. Akaashi visited him there and felt very sad. Possibly, in another world, Bokuto stayed playing volleyball with Akaashi.
