Hey, i'm Malicca, im 15 and this is my submission for the wattpad writing contest #instaxstillstolife. I got everyone's permission in this story to use their name and I asked them if it was okay to write about that memory and they gave me the go ahead. It would mean the world for me to get picked because I just started getting serious about writing and it would give me a little push to keep working hard. Getting a shout out would also help my platform grow and I really want a camera because I no longer have a phone and all I have is a computer.

War, red sirens, bombs and rockets, running to shelter, studying under the light of candles, passing with flying colors, immigration, leaving motherland behind, surmounting obstacles, never giving up, never forgetting the roots, that is the gist of being #LegallyPersian and Persian Proud in 500 words!

Kelly Shackelford moved away to college a little before the start of the school year, trying to escape past memories and the people that come with them. But when an unexpected bout of homesickness comes with moving away, Kelly turns to the memories that hang on her walls for solace.
