The sun-bleached, palm-lined world of Fort Myers, Florida, is Lynn Turner's kingdom. As a 17-year-old star swimmer for Fort Myers High, her life is a perfect rhythm of chlorinated water, weekend meets, and the effortless laughter of her best friends. But in June of 2020, while on a victory trip to London, that rhythm is shattered by a soundless, swift invasion. Creatures of impossible speed and ferocity-dubbed "Death Angels" hunt by sound, reducing the cacophonous modern world to a graveyard.
Stranded an ocean away from home, Lynn and her teammates must trade the roar of cheering crowds for the discipline of absolute silence. Their swimmer's lungs, trained for breath control, and their athlete's discipline become their greatest weapons in a fight to cross a silent, Europe overrun by creatures. Their goal: the distant, safe shores of Australia, where life still hums normally, protected by water the creatures cannot cross.
