Kimberly Hill is an 18 year old girl from Oakland, raised in a conservative family, with racist values towards every race, except from hers. Her life seems rather stable, she's in a relationship, has just finished school, and it's time for her to take the next step in life, which is, supposedly, going to university, to define her future.
But her future doesn't hold what she expects. Instead of receiving an acceptance letter from Standford University, she receives one from the US army, telling her she's one in thousands of people enlisted for war.
It isn't what she expects, but it's a remarkable life experience. All of her values, and encounters she considered important, start being questioned when she meets her new partner, Lucas Sanders, who has a whole new mentality Kimberly had never heard of. It's her time to learn how life actually looks like, after growing up in a bubble designed by her family, and about the meaning of true love, based on moral standards, and deeper feelings, instead of superficial things she saw as relevant. But there are problems obstacling this affair. Will she give her pride away to obtain true love? Or will she give true love away to get pride? She doesn't know, and she's going to find out.
