Taking place about a year after The Princess and The Alchemist, Varian and Isabel reunite at the Exposition of Young Sciences. While both are happy to see each other, they both have to compromise against each other, along with 3 other young inventors, in the Exposition to see who will be granted as the best scientist in the entire realm. After the mortal war, Jace had married Clary. It seems that all would go a happy ever after but there are some circle members, demons and renegades that are still causing problems. They are after the people that had more angel blood and the would do anything to capture them. Clary become pregnant but she had to make a decision to protect his baby and the love of her life.
