This is basically an alternate universe where Jonathan and Clary grow up in the valley together, knowing about Jace, and helping Valentine. In all the parts, Clary and Jace are referred to with their names of the time, because at some points, they didn't have their nicknames yet. Like in the prologue, which is set when Clary is 10, Jace and Clary never had nicknames because Clary grew up with Valentine, who always called her Clarissa, and Jace was given his nickname by Maryse, who Jace hadn't met yet, therefore, he was still called Jonathan. In this, Clary is given her nickname by Jace when they grow close (like how Will calls Tessa, Tess) because she didn't grow up in a place where she got to choose a nickname, like how she did in the original series.
