In a magical fairy tale world, two well-meaning parents-to-be upset a witch, who proceeds to curse every child they ever have. They end up with a monstrously ugly daughter, a son scheduled to go into a deep sleep on his 15th birthday, and a baby who gets turned into a tadpole. The only way the older children can be cured is through true love, so they naturally think the same for their younger brother, but they don't know for sure. This is a Newsies fanfiction. I don't own Newsies or its characters. In case it wasn't clear I'm trying my hand at Beauty and the Beast, Sleeping Beauty, and Frog Prince stories.

Set in 1969, the newsies have all grown into young adults and are leading their own lives. As he is called back to Manhattan, Specs uncovers old memories and scars from his past. And as the turmoil of the year unfolds, it changes everything for the whole crew, forever. 

Shawn came back from the field at sundown. Every muscle in my body visibly relaxed at seeing him safe and sound. "WHAT WERE YOU DOING?" I screamed at his silhouette while he ran towards me. He didn't answered and kept running as fast as his small feet could carry him. When he was finally close enough for the moon to shed some light on him, I realised he was holding a Sunflower in his hand and a dirty piece of wood . He got down on one knee and held both objects in front me. "This," he began, holding up the piece of wood, " because you run as fast as a car" "That's supposed to be a car?" I mocked. "Shut up and take the gift" he frowned and threw the piece of wood at me. " okay, thank you" I said with a laugh. Leaning down, I grabbed the "car" and a little clump of dirt. When I got back up, the hand with the sunflower was extended to me. " I know it's your favourite" he mumbled angrily. "It is" I answered, taking his hand and the sunflower in mine. ...
