Welcome to St. Louis, 1927, in a world inhabited by anthropomorphic cats, where Prohibition is in effect, jazz pulses through the city's veins, liquid gold flows through dark alleys, and alliances are as fragile as the bottles smuggled across the streets.
On one side, we have Lackadaisy: operating in the basement of the Little Daisy Café, a limestone speakeasy that refuses to die, kept alive by Mitzi May's unwavering faith in the memory of her husband, Atlas May, murdered the previous year. In the damp basement, the Calamity Trio - Rocky Rickaby, a violinist whose chaos hides a past of loss; Freckle McMurray, an anxious gunslinger who carries guilt like a second skin; and Ivy Pepper, a budding journalist caught between two worlds - struggles to survive as the gang crumbles amidst dust and debt.
On the other side, the Marigold gang: operating from the luxurious Maribel Hotel, they are the newly declared rivals of the Lackadaisy, a glittering empire of gold and ambition, commanded by Asa Sweet, a boss who would do anything to protect what is his. The gang is an impregnable fortress, guarded by the radiant-smiling, sharp-locked heiress, Enid Sweet, and her elite team: the calculating assassin Mordecai Heller, the Bayou siblings of impeccable ferocity, Nicodeme and Serafine Savoy, and the poison expert chemist, Wisteria Castillo.
With the city on the brink of irreversible conflict, an unexpected encounter at a public fountain unites two hearts that should be enemies. Now, what will happen when the chaos of the Lackadaisy and the discipline of the Marigold collide? The war between daisies and marigolds is only beginning, and not everyone will emerge unscathed.
