In the first installment of the Fault Line Trilogy, Jane Carter wanted nothing more than for her two sisters to grow up safe. After years of suffering to keep her sisters healthy, Jane acts out and murders her mother. Now Jane begins her life of being a runaway criminal. She now realizes the consequences of what she has done and is forced to leave her sisters at her aunt's house alone. Though Jane's mother pushed her to the edge of the line and further, the fifteen year old still feels as if it's her fault. Running away from her terrible deed, she learns of betrayal, death, forgiveness, and what it takes to survive in the criminal world. She'll meet the one who'll save her, a foe from the past, and even face the death of herself. With her mother's death haunting her every move, Jane's whole world is falling apart, and she can't do anything except run. As one had said: "The guilty shall rest under pain of death;" will that also mean Jane? Or will she have to suffer the deaths of her loved ones . . . alone? Freebird Jade Dixon, or more commonly known as simply Jade Dixon, was roaming the backwoods of Virginia a day before the Apocalypse started. An off duty officer found her, and since she was a young runaway, she was immediately swept away to the nearest police station. Unable to locate her father (she had known there was no way in hell they'd find that good-for-nothing redneck), she must stay the night in a locked cell with four other juvenile delinquents. They're all in there for a varying degree of crime, from petty theft to alleged murder. But when morning comes, and the police have all turned into the undead, they must stick together, trust each other, and make it out alive. Harley Santiago is used to being unwanted. Her mother got pregnant with her at sixteen and gave her up, she's been in and out of foster homes and juvie all of her life, and her father had never contacted her. Little does Harley know, that her father, Vic Fuentes, doesn't know she exists. So imagine his surprise when he's about to go on tour with his band, Pierce The Veil, only to get a call that his daughter is getting out of juvie for the 5th time, and has no place to go. Vic, though shocked, is quick to want to get to know and be a father to his knew found daughter, but soon learns that it won't be so easy. Harleys used to getting her way, doing what she wants, and not following anyone's rules. She closes herself off from everyone and has no plan to try to get to know a man that claims to be her father. Now, Vic struggles to be in a famous band, having to relavaluate his life, and taking care of his juvenile delinquent daughter that's fixed on making his life a living hell. - "I don't know what else you want from me. I'm trying, I'm really trying. And this has got to stop! You getting in fights, sneaking out, getting in trouble. You need to follow my rules because I'm done!" Vic said angrily. I scoffed, laughing humorously. "Oh whatever like you give a fuck. Just go ahead and pretend like you care, while you keep getting paid from the government." I growled at him. He pounded his fist on the table in anger. "You and I both know that your not here just so I can get money. I'm your father and you better start treating me like one!" He yelled. My glare intensified, feeling anger flood my veins. I stalked closer to him, with my fists clenched. "We might be related by blood," I paused, getting closer. "But you'll never be my father." I spat, turning on my heels, and doing the thing I've always done. I ran.
