Kalopsia Stories

Kalopsia (Pronounced ka-lop-sE-a): noun. The delusion of things being more beautiful than they really are. The world around us is changed by our perception. There are things our eyes simply cannot perceive and so we do not see them. Our brains sometimes skip over that which we have no understanding of. Therefore, our perception of the world is distorted by our understanding and experiences. There are things that exist out there. Things that we cannot conceive of. We are so focused on names and material things that we miss the essence of the world. We miss out on wonderful experiences. This is my story- my name has long been forgotten, but our actions have not.

Have you ever experienced something so beautiful, so exquisite that it is next to impossible to experience it ever again? Some things happen only once in a lifetime and even though you might not know what fate has up its sleeve, you are always certain that that is that one thing and it was more alluring than you could have ever imagined.

This is the representation of the overestimation of conventional beauty in our surroundings. Misery lurks with restless loneliness in every disregarded corner in a state of perpetual melancholy. Thunderous clouds harboring the destruction of cataclysmic turmoil within their moist molecules rumble through the previously blue skies without hesitation. Yet these afflictions are avoided by us with immense vigor. Perhaps we demand too much from delicate elegance, and forget the importance of personal misadventure and collective tribulation alike. There is something to be said about the raw beauty of adversity.

The expression he made was priceless, his eyebrows had raised and his mouth was drawn into a forced line yet I could tell the edges of his lips had twitched into a smile. "Am I now?" he tilted his head and used his hand to tilt my head up to look directly into his dark eyes. "Yes, you are beautiful." ... "Have you seen Kurapika?" Chrollo wondering looking between the spiders. Machi was the one to answer him. "In the bathroom brushing his hair." she said. Chrollo sighed getting up and walking to the bathroom looking in on the blonde who was surrounded by boxes of makeup. "What are you doing Kurapika?" Chrollo asked. Kurapika looked up only to let his eyes flicker back down to the sink. "Making myself as beautiful as you are."
