Based off of the Red Queen series by Victoria Aveyard. i don't own any of these characters this is just a spin off of Kings cage. Based on Kings Cage, Mare trades her life for Cal and Kilorn. Little does she know she starts to slowly change and do the one thing she swore she wouldn't. Maybe Maven can be helped, he's just a product of his mother and maybe Mare can help.

Even though Davidson told Tiberas Calore there is no such a newblood that could help bring his brother back, deep inside his home hides Calliope with a power no one else could master. Ben, Erica, Mike and Zoe have made some new friends over summer break. After nearly getting killed, all Ben wants is a couple of months of freedom from any kind of mission. When Erica suddenly goes missing and there are no traces of SPYDER at all, Ben starts to suspect the people he's supposed to be protecting. Do they really need protection? "Do you want me to live?" I choke the words out, nearly a sob, head pounding. Maven steps into my cell and this time I do not move away. I stay in my place on the cold ground, waiting to see how he responds. He stops right in front of me, crouching down. He puts a hand out to push the hair out of my face and I let him. He is oddly gentle and an unreadable expression takes over his face. "Of course I do," he finally says, an inkling of pain on his pale face. "And I can have you live." This is my take on what would have happened if Mare chose Maven in the Bowl of Bones.
