In Iron Man II, Tony Stark says he's a living phoenix metaphor. I got to thinking, "But what if there was a better phoenix metaphor lurking around the corner?"
A Better Phoenix Metaphor centers around Phoebe Nixon, a thirteen-year-old girl. After what she calls "The Vanishing," Phoebe discovers that she has the power to communicate with spirits, and even venture into the spiritual realm herself, along with being able to shapeshift specific parts of her body.
She uses this power to get herself a job communicating with the spirits lost in the blip. However, with her most recent client, Cassie Lang, Phoebe can't communicate with Cassie's dead father, Scott Lang.
The two begin to investigate, and soon enough, they both decide to finally discover once and for all why half the population disappeared two years ago, that fateful day.
They also find out they're gay and there's romance.
