The summer plans included visiting the various cities in Neopia, shopping for clothes and Ameril putting the experience onto film. After all, the younger Faeries didn't have to worry about the problems the older Faeries did, yet something from the previous summer causes an unexpected twist. Disclaimer - I don't own Neopets. I saw someone else writing for the Neopets fandom for International Fandom Day 2021 and thought to myself that said fandom needs a bit more love, but I remembered I still had an unfinished project from the Last Summer Collabs I'd not finished. This one was written for the Dystopian Apocalypse prompt and needed to be 5k or less. The prompt was, "Summer has just begun. You have everything planned out from random road trips and filming home movies with your best friends, to traveling the world before the beginning of a new stage in your life. You find, however, that something you did last summer will come back to haunt you and the world will end soon. What happened and how will you spend your final days this summer?" It's also written for the rare theme of Male Faeries in Neopets which is a "banned" topic over there.

Hello there, you bonkers little human. I see that you have reached the end of your voyage. Please confirm the pass code before continuing to the land of magic and mystery. What?! You don't remember it?! How can someone forget something so predictable?! It's literally "I make self-deprecating jokes because my life is the biggest circus." The ghost on my shoulder stirs, viciously ripping out its imaginary earphones as it stares me dead in the eyes. "What? I thought the pass code was 'Complaining more about writing than actually writing'. Such betrayal..." *** Welcome to the world of quirky humor and spiraling fantasy, where modern sassy ghosts dance to jazz, kids walk around with skulls instead of dolls, Cinderella hurls her glass slippers at the prince's face because he is just so freaking annoying, and where you can get the worst trust issues. Here's a collection of random stories that decide to holler into my mind every now and then. Trigger warnings: racism, bullying, suicide, addiction, war, violence, character death

Stories for several comps/collabs, amalgamated into one collection. Two of them actually placed in their respective sections (yay!): -Mysterious Ways - 1st place, @PsychologicalNovel's "Wake Up In the Morning" comp (June 2020) -The Listeners - 1st place, Last Summer 2020 collab in the @WarriorGoddess section (July/August 2020) * -'The Flower Hunter'. Loosely based on the folklore of seductive water sprites, particularly the Vila (a Central European version of Rusalka). Written for @AfterDark's "Mirror, Mirror" contest (Mar 2020) -'Mysterious Ways'. A young woman wakes in the wrong version of her bedroom. Or is it so wrong after all? ('You wake in a strange place, possibly as someone else.') -'The Listeners'. Morial and her fellow Spirit Listeners work hard to maintain the balance between nature and mortals; until, one Summer, Morial is accused of upsetting that balance herself. ("I know what you did last summer". The prompt features as paragraph nine in my story.) -'Between the (Spread)Sheets'. An accountant and a trader play cat-and-mouse in a City firm. (@Crime's 'Deceptive Detective' Aug 2020: one criminal goes undercover to expose or be exposed by another.) -'The Unexpected Message'. A missed phone call proves momentous for a young art historian. (@AmbassadorsUK/@Fanatsy/@WattpadFairytales's 'Underground Tales' contest Nov 2020: pick a Tube station - King's Cross/Angel/Seven Sisters/Knightsbridge - and imagine what lies below which is connected with the name. I chose Angel.) The only real thing in this story is the Museum of London (which has an excellent Roman gallery, btw); any coincidence with real heritage experts - or indeed the unrealistic probability of such a find - is my fault. -'Cyclopean Arches'. In the year 3542, an advance exploration party finds some interesting ruins. (Nov 2020. 'Underground Tales' (again): King's Cross.)

I look at the crowded city centre, perched atop a spire, in search of my targets. To the human eye, I am just a wind vane in the form of a cupid, swaying ever so lightly in the wind. I spot him and immediately shoot my arrow, which sails smoothly down to pierce him directly in the heart. I rotate to the side and mark my second target. I am falling behind on my monthly quota and time is running short. It's now or never, and so I release the last arrow. What happens next is something terrible. Something that is not fate, but pure mistake. Will Cupid be punished or let go?

#lastsummer2020 # lastsummercollabs She intuitively touched the surface of the water, causing it to wrinkle and almost instantly the surface morphed into a message that read "I know what you did last summer". She flinched and then peered at the strange message again, almost as if she wasn't sure if it was a mirage or not. But surmising it was real, a smirk crossed her features and her golden complexion turned pink as she blushed fervently and began to recall what she'd done last summer.....
