Betrayal can take many forms, Not always of the heart, Sometimes a friend can let you down And tear your world apart. To feel the pang of loneliness When someone turns away, Instead of coming to your side To help you, come what may, Is something I have rarely felt, But sadly feel today. Perhaps a trusted colleague, For reasons never clear, Decides to throw you to the wolves, An outlet for their fear, It damages, destroys and wrecks Your self- belief, your trust, You vow revenge or just move on, Do something, act, you must, To save a little of yourself, While others, relieved, sigh, Knowing the chaos they have caused, But for the grace of God go I. Betrayal is a harsh, cold world, Where most of us will meet Someone who'll deal the cruellest blow, Whose nature can't compete With human kindness, friendship, faith, So chooses to sink deep Into the mire of saving self, At someone's cost,so cheap. A world I hope to soon escape And hold my head up high, With eyes set on the way ahead, I must not, must not cry.

Sometimes we share the path with someone and sometimes we walk the path alone. Do we clear the path or avoid the obstacles that can make us stumble?

Foreword In the delicate cadence of poetry, we often find the purest expression of the human spirit-a place where words become art, emotions transform into verses, and stories are woven with threads of sincerity. "Adopted by Destiny" is a collection of poems that takes us on an evocative journey through the life of Previn, a soul who not only survived the complex landscape of the foster care system but emerged as a testament to resilience and the triumph of the human spirit. Within these verses, we encounter the essence of Previn's existence-a life shaped by the paradoxes of adversity and triumph, despair and hope, abandonment and acceptance. As we delve into these poetic narratives, we are invited to witness the beauty and complexity of a life that defied the odds, transforming a vulnerable child into a flourishing, productive individual. "Adopted by Destiny" is not merely a collection of poems; it is a chronicle of a remarkable odyssey. Each stanza, each rhyme, and each metaphor carries the weight of Previn's experiences, painting a vivid portrait of a life that navigated the tumultuous waters of uncertainty to find its true purpose. - P.

@poems.i.guess i was bored, depressed and heartbroken (: first three parts are kind of a description of what happens to me when winter is over and i have to say goodbye to my seasonal depression. i always part with my depression with a story or a poem. these are all from the last three years, and i hope you enjoy reading them. i hope they inspire you or make you think, or maybe encourage you to create art? The 4th, the 5th and the 6th part talk about how I got to know this person, the first person that I ever let in completely and thought that I've finally found someone who'll understand me and I finally thought that I was doing fine, but in the end I got my heart broken like never before. i don't know, but i hope it helped you in some way. (: stay alive frens ||-// FPE

A short story inspired by an image prompt from u/Syraphia on Reddits r/WritingPrompts Image by "PascalCampion" on Deviantart https://www.deviantart.com/pascalcampion/art/Golden-cages-700235435 This was one of the first image prompts I ever wrote for, so that resulted in an incredibly short response. I hope you enjoy this short monologue about a characters introspection on the aspirations he thought would bring him joy.
