For her twenty-first birthday, Harper Thorne wanted an escape. She never expected a literal shipwreck to leave her stranded on a remote, uncharted island. Suddenly, the comfortable life she knew is gone. As days pass, the isolation sets in. Harper is homesick, a bit scared, and feels like a complete outcast against the unforgiving elements as she struggles to adapt to the wilderness. Then she meets Kai Hayes. Tall, broody, and fiercely independent, Kai has spent his entire life trapped in the stifling traditions of his island village. Branded a problem child, he constantly escapes into the jungle, desperately chasing a spark of something fresh. To Kai, running into Harper is a rare opportunity. She is the living embodiment of the outside world and the newness he has craved his whole life. Kai knows the island's secrets; Harper knows what lies beyond them. As he shows her his favorite hideaways and hidden swimming holes, he helps her navigate her new reality. But paradise isn't easy. When savage storms and tropical diseases force them to work together, they have to rely on each other just to survive. Amidst the challenges, a connection begins to form. Yet, as Kai faces a challenge far bigger than his lifelong boredom-falling helplessly for the girl he was just supposed to be looking for an adventure in-Harper faces the ultimate trial. When a rescue finally becomes possible, will she return to the comfortable, predictable life she left behind, or will she risk it all for the wild freedom she found in the arms of the man who saved her?

The life story of my great grandfather, the One Man Band, from a manuscript he typed up himself in November 1987. He traveled all over, had his own radio show and played all over the country in a time long lost from the 20's all the way too his death on June 25th 2002.
