The creature has one deep desire: to be seen not as a predator of the sea, but as an ally to the human race. Because the anonymous sadshark cannot communicate with humans very well, it can only express their true feelings through its works. These prose dive into heavy and complex topics such as society, human cruelty, heartbreak, betrayal, and many others. By putting its emotions in the form of words on paper, it helps the creature feel more human and accepted by those around it, even though they know no one will because it will always be seen as different.

Malcolm thinks he doesn't care at all about Lloyd, but really he's all he can think about, well Lloyd thinks Malcolm doesn't care at all about him.
