Magnus and Alec are happily married, they don't think that they need anything more than each other. But one eventful day, Alec finds a little baby. An orphan. They decide to take him in, not knowing that with all the love and pleasure he will bring, trouble won't be far away. Max is different and even Magnus who has lived for more than 400 years, has never seen such powers, nor learned how to control them.

Magnus and Alec receive a threatening letter demanding they break up. The lovers make a plan but when it starts to go wrong the boys have to fight for their love (Dun dun dunnnn!!) They waited patiently but prepared for what would greet them. Finally the door swung open and the boy's simultaneously tensed and breathed in relief when a familiar face greeted them. However, it was short-lived once hearing the words that came next. "Who are you? State your intent." ~ Brothers Max and Rafael Lightwood-Bane force their way through an unfamiliar portal to stop hellhounds released from Edom. What they find on the other side was not what they were expecting. With more than one rising threat they feel out of time in more ways than one.
