Iman Yusuf is everything a 300-level medical student shouldn't be - loud, opinionated, and a certified gender-role breaker. She believes in chaos, comfort, and chasing her goals without compromising who she is. Friends? Overrated. Alliances? More efficient. Romance? Not on her radar. Until the school pairs her with a mentor. Shahir Faisal, the intimidatingly almost perfect 500-level student, walks like a blueprint ..calm, calculated, and irritatingly composed. He's the kind of guy who drinks water like it's a science and speaks like life is a case study. Worst of all? He's now in charge of guiding her group toward the most important exam before the clinical postings. But when quiet meetings turn into charged silences... When structured plans collide with untamed energy... And when the girl who believes in freedom meets the boy who lives by rules.. It becomes less about passing an exam and more about surviving each other

~ Blog With A Purpose #1 ~ The first installment of this blog-style post is kind of an open letter to myself but moreover to share with others who have either been in this situation and/or have thought about this at some point in their academic/professional career relating to medicine. I leave some points kind of open-ended intentionally to allow those to be follow-up articles (and even points of discussion in the comments) instead of making this one longer than it needed to be at this time. I hope you find it interesting and/or even resonating on this perspective and the things not quite so spoken on about pursuing this kind of career. Happy Reading, and thank you for your time here. Peace.

One word could destroy their rivalry. Or start a revolution. Afreen traveled thousands of miles from the heart of Bihar to the cold, historic halls of Germany with a single mission: to become the first doctor in her middle-class family. Coming from a household of eight where education is a legacy, she didn't come for distractions, and she certainly didn't come for Sam. Sam is everything Afreen isn't-bold, American, and infuriatingly confident. Their first meeting wasn't a "meet-cute"; it was a literal collision in a corridor that left Afreen's books scattered and her temper flaring. "Are you blind?" he snapped. "What? You were the one wondering around, not me, Mr.!" she fired back. From that moment, it's war. But as the pressure of medical school reaches a breaking point in the year 2019, a chance encounter outside the classroom changes the frequency between them. In the silence of a German winter, one word from Afreen's heart echoes-a word Sam was never supposed to hear. Pyaar. Can two rivals from different worlds find a common language, or will their ambitions tear them apart?

It's a classic love story. Mindless, post-exam swiping on the next big dating app, Magique. Girl is the illegitimate love child between a wizard and a banshee with serious daddy issues, and may or may not be the victim of several assassination attempts. Boy is unwillingly on the run after destroying a six-million-dollar MRI machine and almost burning down a university. And they both swiped right. It was a match of convenience, with more strings attached than either of them had ever anticipated. Based on ONC prompt "A new dating app, matching magical beings with ordinary folk takes the world by storm"

Evie Albright has no intention of making friends, smiling, or falling in love - especially not at Solacewood Medical Academy, where everyone seems too busy acing exams or faking perfection. Smart, sarcastic, and emotionally exhausted, Evie's only goal is to survive the year quietly at the top of her class. But when she accidentally crashes into Kai Thorne - the tall, quiet guy with the scary face and kind eyes - her plan to stay invisible begins to fall apart. He's mysterious, weirdly patient, and way too persistent. She wants nothing to do with him. So why does he keep showing up? And why does she feel a little less alone every time he does? What starts as reluctant hallway run-ins and silent standoffs slowly turns into tutoring sessions, playful insults, and... something else. Something that feels like hope. Evie doesn't believe in happy endings. But maybe - just maybe - this isn't the end at all.

"No. I'm not normal. I don't want to be normal. Normal is boring." -Brianna Villanueva That Girl, That Summer *** Kyle was looking for a place where he can forget about the hell he had been through for the past couple of weeks. Being a medical student was no easy, and it robbed him of time to spend with his girlfriend. So she broke up with him. And that was the least thing that he expected her to do. In a place where beers, parties, and beaches were part of everyone's daily life, he decided to unwind and start afresh. That was when he met that girl who would make him realize what life is and would change his forever. *** Author's Note: This is the edited version. The previous entry was a mix of first and third persons. Now I want to change everything and stick with third person point of view. I'm also going to rearrange the flow and plot of the story in this version. Warning: Full of grammar mistakes and typographical errors. Not proofread yet. Disclaimer: This is a work of fiction; a product of my wild imagination. Any resemblance to real names, events, happenings and/or experiences of other people confirms my psychic ability. Just kidding. Any resemblance is entirely coincidental. :) Credits: Book Cover image by andreluizbarbosa.tumblr.com -------------------------------- Date Started: April 2015 Date Finished: TBA -------------------------------- Official hashtag: #TGTS

*Short stories released weekly from various hospitals I've been at in the past three years of medical school. The stories are in no particular order. Some are new, some are old. No names will be used, instead people will be referred to by their role* The ups and downs continue getting steeper and I look back knowing I've gone too far to turn back now. I don't think there is any position as unique as a med student. We are simultaneously the lowest ranking member in any medical team while being advanced enough for tasks nurses of 10+yrs are not accredited for. And here the anxiety is sourced. We witness and accomplish amazing things yet experience public humiliation through reprimands from any member of the team. It is a constant state of elation and apprehension. We succeed in our tasks as we internally panic we're doing it wrong and will soon hear about it from the nurse, doctor, physio, relative, maybe even the machine as it screams in that shrill way, "you've f*cked it", letting the entire department in on your mistake. And the whole 'see one, do one, teach one' thing? I thought it was a joke in my preclinical years. Turns out it is accurate. The number one being quite literal.
