Love and loss are universal, and even reach beyond our solar system. Witness the power of love and the devastation it can bring in these short stories. Most of these are inspired by the 2019 Trials of Love prompts, and I've been adding other bits and pieces as inspiration hits.

Nothing to say

From a planet in 47 Ursae Majoris, where the rules of physics do not seem to apply, to the tale of an 'out-of-practice' samurai swordsman. From, what a cat is planning under the floorboards, to a vampire couple that forgets all about daylight saving. This collection has it all: science fiction, speculation, horror, dark humour and disorientating slipstream. Most importantly, each of these very short stories is exactly 140 characters long (including spaces, punctuation and everything). Not, less than 140, EXACTLY 140. This length reflects the original limit of a post on Twitter. Of course, Twitter has more recently extended the limit to 280 characters. However, increasing the limit for this collection above 140 characters would make it too easy. We don't want easy, do we?

Cynics of love take notice! There's a sassy personality out there you can totally relate to. And like our protagonist who had navigated through life as a disbeliever in anything smacking of romance, his life was changed forever via his smartphone. It was an epiphany in the form of Siri, the ubiquitous Apple iOS assistant, couched in all her whimsical and ironic glory. Over time, and through a series of our character's mundane inquiries--gradually waxing more personal, Siri's tepid charm and intellect eventually bewitched his lonely heart. Romance, it seems, can be be a strange and beguiling force. [Submitted as @Mystery's Valentines Contest 2020]

RAMADAN ENGAGEMENT ACTIVITY WINNER! Sazan decides that this Ramadan will be something special and to make it remarkable, she challenged herself into the 30-day Ramadan challenge. That's by changing her personality into a better one since Ramadan is the month of self-training as it teaches us self-restraint, self-confidence, contentedness, and perseverance, she decides to do her best.

These are true animal stories. We live on a loop road surrounded by a preserve. Panthers, bears, alligators, deer and turkey are some of the animals that have visited us. The bobcat, on this cover, was trying to catch a stray domestic cat. It had escaped under our house. After my husband took this picture, the bobcat ran away, and the house cat lived. Our self-appointed neighborhood protector is Lucky the Fearless Dog. The first story is a MicroByte entry about Lucky and a bear. I plan on adding more animal stories. There have been a number of close animal encounters. Life is never boring in the country.

"People says, if you want something, pray for something by heart, you'll surely get it", Madie said sadly. "It is", Raoul said looking at her. "Then I want Sam back...", she said tears roaming through her cheeks. It was dark in the night, Raoul couldn't see her face clearly, but he understood something. ************************************************************* Just one day, 26th July, 2017, Wednesday, something really happened in my life. That incident inspired me to present it here. This story is the consequence of my intellectual Labour and my real life experience, if you steal my idea, I'll drive chainsaws over you.
