When a being enters this world, they are pure. Devoid of evil and sin. But this cruel world plagues this beautiful being, it tortures and infects it with sin until it tears wounds that will never heal. The world will hurt it again, and again, and again, until it is no longer the innocent being they once were.
And the being learns.
Learns that kindness is not always returned.
That trust is a fragile thing, easily shattered beneath careless hands.
That love, though sweet as nectar, will rot away with time.
That hope, no matter how bright it shines, will sputter out and die.
The darkness consumes this being, taints it until feathers of pure white melt into feathers of the deepest abyss. And what used to be a white swan, the epitome of purity and innocence, has morphed into the black swan. But can pure darkness still be considered pure?
