The Empty Seat
By J. D'Arc
In a quiet Japanese classroom bathed in golden afternoon light, Aira always sits beside an empty seat.
At least, that's what everyone else sees.
To Aira, the seat is never empty.
Eliam rests there every day-head on his folded arms, silver hair glowing softly beneath a faint halo. He sleeps through lessons, through laughter, through the turning of seasons. No one speaks to him. No one calls his name. No one remembers the accident that took him away.
Except her.
Years ago, something happened that tied Eliam to the world of the living-and somehow, to Aira's heart. He cannot be touched. He cannot be heard. And yet, he is always there. Watching. Waiting. Loving in silence.
Aira carries feelings she has never dared to confess. Loving a ghost means loving alone. It means stolen glances, whispered words no one else can hear, and kisses that can never be felt.
But when buried truths begin to surface and the past demands to be faced, Aira must confront a painful question:
Is Eliam still here because of unfinished business...
or because he never learned how to let her go?
A tender story of first love, loss, regret, and the fragile thread between life and death, The Empty Seat is a hauntingly beautiful romance about holding on-and finding the courage to finally reach out.
Sometimes the seat beside you isn't empty.
Sometimes, it's waiting.
