Grayton14
A thousand years ago, she lost him to the darkness. Tonight, she will defy all of Equestria to keep him.
The Crystal Empire is falling. The Umbrum - the shadow-born army that raised King Sombra as their weapon and their key - pour through the broken seams of the world, and the rebels' desperate last stand is failing street by street. Only one pony still believes the war can be won without a single blow: Radiant Hope, the healer who gave up wings, a crown, and a legendary destiny for the sake of an outcast gray colt the whole world learned to fear.
When Hope's plea reaches whatever remains of her oldest friend beneath the tyrant's armor, Sombra makes an impossible choice - he returns the Crystal Heart and seals his own kind away in the dark. The Empire is saved. The Fair sings again. And for one fragile, beautiful hour, Sombra finally stands in the light he was never allowed to touch.
But Hope knows exactly what happens to defeated monsters. She has already watched him be torn from the world once - and she will not survive watching it twice. So while the empire celebrates, she takes the pony she loves and runs into the Frozen North.
They make it three steps before the light of a princess blocks their path.
What follows, in one storm-wracked clearing at the edge of the world, is not a battle - it is a reckoning a millennium in the making. A captain of the guard who must look his own worst fear in the eye. A Princess of the Sun forced to kneel before the ghost of the filly she failed a thousand years ago. A broken king who finally learns what true strength is. And one small, stubborn healer who stands between her best friend and the assembled might of Equestria, armed with nothing but a plea:
"Please, don't take him from me again"
Seven chapters. Two broken ponies. One chance to finally come home.
