He said he's been running away from Filch after setting off glitter bombs on the fifth floor corridor. Jody has been obviously frustrated, he'd noticed that. And when he asked, she'd answered that she was late for Transfiguration class because she couldn't find the classroom- the staircases kept moving and the portraits kept telling her the wrong directions. Fred offered to walk her there and joked about 'not letting the staircases eat her'. She took that literally and Fred had to explain his joke before she found the ability to laugh. Fred forgot all about that now.
