17 year old Max is struggling to live in the dangerous streets of Detroit. But when she comes home it's an even bigger train wreck, Max lives with her abusive mother who is a recovering drug addict, and her older brother who is dealing with gang affiliations which is causing conflict in the home. Her father on the other hand left her when she was 14 to go live with his mistress and their 2 children. Max starts to fall in love with Slater, Carl's lifelong friend. Slater and Max run into traumatic that makes them closer and closer each day.
