She color-codes her notes, dresses like somebody's grandmother, and is quite sure that she'll be president someday. Finnick Fontaine is beloved, but nobody can put their finger on why. Easygoing and funny, with no plan for college or anything after, he's essentially the antithesis of everything Adelaide stands for. He's in love with her, naturally. What do the two have in common? They're the only students in Coupeville High's debate club with any inkling of skill in the subject. After an insanely surprising sectionals win, Adelaide and Finn sort-of-agree to put their differences aside and lead their god-awful team to nationals for their last hurrah, come hell or high water. But, as Adelaide and Finn spend more time together and family secrets are uncovered, they have to grapple with the fact that some things are just meant to happen, no matter how much you debate on it.
