The Complex promised order. It promised survival. It promised to keep families together. Separated from her family after she is flagged for a medical issue, a woman crosses the ash-covered landscape of America to find her family and reunite with them. But as she draws closer, she begins to understand that unity comes at a price, and that sometimes getting what you want means losing the part of yourself that made it worth wanting. *** I hope you all enjoy this story. I have published this before, but after reading it through, I realized it needed a major overhaul. This story is about loss, longing, and the price one pays to get what they think they want, only to realize that circumstances have changed. -Aria

A Fictional Memoir of the tradition of a woman playing Peter Pan, which helped me think through my Gender. This NeroQueer Retellung is appropriate for readers 10 and up, because kids have the RIGHT to read Queer Literature! Since an "Actress" is assumed to be a woman, and Peter Pan is a boy, there is Misgendering in this fanfiction. It was in the tags, but I want to put a clear Trigger Waning. Also, Trigger Warning for the racial slur that calls Indigenous People "Red." I have thoughts... Credit for the Fairy Genders goes to J.M. Barrie My portrayal of Tiger Lily is Anti-Colonial Through a Disability Justice lens. To Sondra Lee, who played Tiger Lily, and saved my life To Lerisssa Fasthorse, who justly restored my lost dignity To Adolph Green, who taught me what makes a monter and what makes a man, is complicated To Jerome Robbins, who challenged my intellect and morality And of course to Mary Martin, who taught me about the "Unusal things you can do"

This is a story about unconventional individuals. It might seem somewhat funny that a word whose root and etymology derive from "indivisible" ends with "dual". This reflects the very chaotic and uncertain nature of all things. The individuals depicted here often struggled to face, embrace, or accept their own duality. This is a story about travels. One could ask which story is not, and that would be a very fair question. So let me rephrase: this is a story about unexpected travels. The kind where the destination is unknown, the outcome unpredictable, and the events uncertain. It is also a story about flying away. Flying away deeper and further into the silky comfort of a blank yet doubtful future, which can only be better than the mistakes of the past. Why do people start travelling? There are as many answers as there are individuals, if not twice as much. A dichotomy between the various reasons easily emerges, even though they often combine into a weird blend: necessity or desire, compassion or revenge, regrets or hope. I often remember the story of my friend E. as he used to tell me, before he was driven away by his own obsessions. - Updated weekly

Some things lost in the giving can still be found again. Miriam Alderton has spent thirty-one years doing everything right: raising children, loving a husband, and tending a garden that is the finest in the county. Now, at fifty-eight, with the house quiet and her children grown and gone, she stands in her lavender field and asks herself a question she doesn't quite know how to answer: Who am I, outside of everything I have done and everyone I have loved? Saoirse is a single mother, a translator, and a woman who has traveled far to find a slower pace of life. She arrives in the little village of Hathwell with her daughter Nell, too many books, and the quiet exhaustion of someone who has poured every ounce of herself into one beloved person-and is only now realizing she has lost the thread of her own identity somewhere along the way. Together, amidst shared mornings, garden rows, and cups of tea gone slightly cold, two women who have both been quietly lost begin, at last, to find their way back to themselves. The Lavender Between Us is a gentle, luminous story about motherhood, friendship, and healing-and the beautiful truth that it is never too late to remember who you are, and who you are still becoming.
