"We can be just friends." Edward said nicely, sitting beside her in the sand.
"What makes you think I want to be your friend?" Kim asked, her lips twisted mockingly.
"Well, I'm pretty likeable once you get to know me." He stared at her profile but she never met his gaze.
"Well, I don't want to get to know you. And I don't even want to be here."

It was an agreement meant to last two years, one with no emotions, nor attachments. The plan is perfect and well-calculated, he is sure he can pull it off. He is sure, more than anything, that Kimberly Cross is the best woman for the job.
