This is about the Power of Dark

I’m a drug addict. Actually that’s a lie; only my best friend, boyfriend, family and other best friend are. Oh, and all my other friends. In fact, everyone I know is. But I’m not, so that should count for something right? Maybe I should think about getting new friends. Karla Ivory lives for her daily hit of sex and alcohol; everyone close to her lives for their daily hit of sex and drugs. She’s poor, jobless and struggling in a world when there isn’t much not to struggle for but after the incident, Karla decides she wants a new life. In fact, she decides she needs a new life. Only those aren’t that easy to come by with nothing to offer and she knows well enough that they don’t sell those things cheap.

Picture a world of darkness, then this person comes along and lights it up. You think that because they are "The White Light", that they are good. But, nawh. The darkness was not darkness until the light came around. And made it "better". Little did you know the light only came around to show you what you were missing. Then they move on to find more darkness and leave you in yours.

Just some of my dark thoughts. Late night shenanigans.

Three weeks had passed since Ariel last saw Matthew when his name appeared on her phone screen in the form of a text. She was midway through her third Goose Island IPA, enough to give her a slight buzz, but the mere sight of his name brought her back down to a temporary sobriety. The phone was in closer reach than her drink, but the heightened anticipation of his words caused her to take another swig before opening his message.

All the memories running through her head every night. She was a wild moonchild. And then there was Theo. Theo Chase Anderson. He had quite the reputation among women. Your typical textbook asshole. The star quarterback of the New York Giants and the people's favorite. Being the youngest child he was always pampered by his family. Their golden trophy. He was the total heartthrob. But he did earn his place as the star quarterback. He was someone who would do anything to achieve what he wants. Be it his love or be it his dreams. What will happen when these two people, who are worlds apart, cross paths? Well, they fall into oblivion.

There's a ethereal place below the roots of trees withered and old, where a dark kingdom stands, mighty and bold. If you climb down the spider webs of time, you'll see you find gold, and black skys. Once you've gone, you will never return, my home is beautiful and covered in ferns. Magical beasts who only tell lies, swim in red lakes that bubble high. But life will destroy any beauty within it, and that is how the dark kingdom died. In this rotting land a light shifts and moves, holding few, who wait and brood. Light ravages and burns the land, turn red rivers cold. Where light touches shadows it kills all good. Life is light and beautiful, all things that destroy. But sometimes darkness does not murder good.

Kamia starts getting weird visions. They come around every night after dark. She tries to get rid of them but fails. Alongside those visions, she longs to go to a home thats not even real. Or is it?

Nobody understands, nobody wants to hear. Some people listen but it's hard to get the point across properly when all the thoughts going on at the same time are hard to differentiate and form into a single thought process to say out loud. Most will say there's nothing wrong because everything seems fine, words are forming in full sentences, demeanor seems normal, and feeling so sad is normal sometimes. If there were a way to explore a sick mind that looks normal from the outside, would it be worth the effort to try to understand? If there were some way to see through the eyes of someone with psychological struggles that are hard to explain and virtually invisible, wouldn't it be easier to interact with and help those people? Sick like us is the first piece of a collection of allegories that are meant to bridge the communication gap between a less common perspective and a world that can't comprehend such an inconspicuous illness.
