They say you never forget your first love, but what if that first love was never real? Or at least not in the way you remember it. Dýo was one of the four masked lords at the court of Alagadda, infatuated with a court doctor who never even glanced at him. Once exiled to earth, he becomes obsessed with a certain plague doctor he met by chance in Bosnia. Unfortunately, obsession isn't always pure love, just as disappointments can make you fall in love with someone who isn't who you expect them to be.

Eloise has always defied society's expectations-questioning marriage, class, and the very rules that define her world. But when she falls for Theo, a printer's apprentice with a mind as sharp as his ink-stained hands, she learns that rebellion has a cost. While Eloise dreams of a love unchained by wealth and title, Theo knows better. He has seen what the ton does to those who dare to cross the line between privilege and poverty. To him, Eloise's status isn't just a barrier-it's a danger. He fears that loving her could destroy them both. As the whispers of scandal grow louder and duty clashes with desire, Eloise and Theo must decide what truly defines them: the rules written by society, or the bond written in their hearts
