LadyCaitin
I sat there, next to my best friend, staring blankly in front of me at nothing in particular.
Caitin's hand was resting comfortingly on my shoulder as she too sat in silence.
The scene kept playing in front of my eyes, over and over it flashed in front of my eyes, unbidden images of horror.
It then hit me, siting there in the corn field on an old tractor tier rim; dad really was gone.
I started sobbing and I felt Caitin's grip on my shoulder tighten reassuring me that she was here.
"Cai," I choked out, "He's gone." I felt the absence of her hand on my shoulder and I felt even more alone in the world, but the feeling lessened a bit when she had stretched her arms around my torso and laid her head on my back.
"Taj?" I heard her whisper "Do you want to talk about it?" If it had been anyone else I would have made a snide remark or had been sarcastic, but this was Caitin, the only friend I've had since I came to Gi, or Earth as the residents here called it.
"What happened, T?"
"It...it's dad."
