Caulypso
After a catastrophic breach aboard the research vessel Stella, 19-year-old Rin watches her world collapse. Her father sacrifices himself to get her to safety aboard the ship's smaller landing vessel hidden in its underbelly-but not before releasing one of their captured alien specimens and striking a desperate deal: its life and freedom in exchange for Rin's survival.
Stranded on the first planet she's ever set foot on, with nothing but a damaged ship and a creature that has every reason to abandon her, Rin is forced to learn how to survive. Yet whether driven by his own motives-repairing the ship and finding a way off-world-or bound by the promise he made, the alien does not leave her side. If anything, he begins to watch over her.
As days pass and survival forces them closer, the distance between them begins to blur. What starts as fear and necessity shifts into something far more complicated-something Rin doesn't fully understand, and perhaps shouldn't feel at all.
And when she begins to suspect that those feelings might not be entirely one-sided, she isn't sure she wants to fight them anymore.
