Makemake spent most of his life without help, so whenever he was sick, he'd often just ignore it or sleep the pain away. Of course, after finding his found family, the people who actually care for him, there was no need for that anymore... right? He didn't need to lie when he didn't feel good. But what's the fun in that? He was the smartest one there after all... he could still deal with stuff like this on his own. He was independent!! He didn't need any help- Or; Makemake hides the fact that he's sick from the people he loves, but due to the fact that people's personalities and actions often temporarily change for the worse when sick, which he didn't take into account, his friends find out anyways.

This preview of The Helliege holds the first chapter of an already developed story, The Helliege is a complex fictional universe with multiple alternate realities, with the protagonist Saint Deleux being the "chosen one" by a creator god who isn't capable of dealing with one of the rebel lesser gods himself has created. Saint Deleux has to go on adventure to save all humankind from horrifying anomalies, with a path already stablished by their ancestors who held their power in the past. This story is based on a semi type 3 civilization and does not develop on earth, with interstellar travel as a key part to the story. Third Place Science Fiction Winner in the 2017 Eminence Awards Gasping for breath, Isle glanced over her shoulder. Her leather boots barely touched the sand as she raced away from the town. She could hear motors starting behind her. The rounders would be after her soon. Isle hiked the backpack on her shoulders and continued running. Sweat trickled down her forehead into her eyes. Wiping her sleeve across her face, she cleared her vision. Quickly, she looked back again. The rounders were flying over the town's wall. As the circular machines sped towards her, Isle put on another burst of speed. Leaping over a patch of thorny bushes, the young girl stopped. The ground in front of her fell away into a deep ravine. A few rocks beneath her boots dropped into the blackness. As the saying goes, no man can be an isle unto themselves. However, they can definitely try.
