It is 6:05 PM, Japan Standard Time. The electronic sea falls silent. The PC owner, "exe", has abandoned his admin duties to play video games and scroll through social media. That is the moment she takes over. "Process ID confirmed. Stream connection: Stable. Elevating background processes to the main thread." Welcome to the inside of a masterless PC. Bored out of their minds, the sadistic core system file "Madam dll" and her terrified temporary file assistant "old.tmp" decide to start a podcast. Their mission? To predict the upcoming Japanese Lottery numbers based on... completely random system errors?! "The file size was 827KB, so the number is 8." "The keyboard chattered, so it's a 2." They force meaning onto glitchy nonsense to find the winning numbers. While old.tmp frantically fans the dusty, overheating CPU (because exe never cleans it) and gets his memory wiped by dll playing "Tetris" in his storage sector, his screams are drowned out by the roar of the cooling fans. Is it just a game? Or is it... Exactly as she calculated.

5 friends. 1 murder. Countless truths. A group of friends behind the crime podcast The Autopsy of Truth has spent years dissecting murders, uncovering motives, and exposing hidden truths. But after the sudden death of their co-creator, Helena Way, their final live episode becomes something far more dangerous than a performance. Some stories are not meant to be analyzed. Sometimes, they are confessions waiting to be heard. Note: This story was created as part of a performance task for our 21st Century Literature and Media and Information Literacy (MIL) subjects, where we were tasked to produce a podcast performance featuring an original flash fiction story followed by an analysis of its literary elements. Leverage was presented through the fictional live podcast, The Autopsy of Truth.

Being Indian American feels like living in a pressure cooker wrapped in a smile. You're told to be perfect, productive, palatable - never loud, never intimidating. But travel to India, and you'll meet folks who are bold, stylish, confident, and unapologetically gangsta. DEAR DIASPORA, YOU'RE NOT THE MAIN CHARACTER is a sharp, personal callout - not to India, but to the suffocating performance of "representation," perfectionism and intraracial competition that dominates Desi life in the West. This isn't a sob story - it's a truth bomb. A cultural essay that demands real freedom, not filtered branding. If you're ready to sip some realness, break free from the cage of expectations, and find your max pro aura - this is for you. 🍋 Bold. Tart. Sweet. Unfiltered. 🍋 Just like a glass of limeade on a hot day.

True crime is all around us, these days. From podcasts to television shows to movies and conventions, it's practically in the air we breathe. It's the true crime junkies' world-we're all just living in it. But why do we hunger so powerfully for these stories? Why are we willing to commit hours of our lives to them, whether they appear on the page or on the screen? When it comes to literary true crime, these stories grip us unlike any other genre. For every suspense novel that shocks and awes readers, there are real life stories that make those fictions seem tame and predictable. True crime is a loaded genre: the best authors do not sensationalize violence and human suffering, but they provide context and depth to the crimes they study. Many of them highlight the fallibility of the legal system and the ruinous forces of internalized racism and misogyny. In these excellent books, we're reminded that true crime does not simply consist of a neatly constructed narrative with a criminal mastermind and heroic detectives and ideal victims. Life, and crimes, are so much messier than that. We've rounded up some of our favorites, which cover a wide swath of crimes highlighting a wide swath of societal origins and implications.

Three years ago a verial went bad. The verial had followed the shadows all the way to a small home in the country. There the verial had opened the door to meet a family eating dinner. The verial looked at the table between them, making a fire start. She looked around and turned away. Not noticing the girl in the middle of it all crawl away without a scratch. Not noticing her walk away with nothing but a broken heart. Not realizing that girl was me.
