Ara, the only woman left alive after a plague, is searching for a way to save humanity. She thinks there isn't a man she can trust, until she meets Kaden. ***** A plague has swept over the Earth, killing the majority of the population and every female. Except one. Ara witnessed the horror and destruction, but for the last three years she has survived. Now, desperation and hunger force her out of the mountains and onto a dangerous path; across the flooded downtown and through the gangs of survivors is hope. Ara's father spoke of a clue that could save not just her, but humanity. Then she is captured by a group of men. Despite the seeming kindness of Kaden, a young man her own age, Ara doesn't know if she can trust them. Then again, there's no way she can cross the plague-ridden city on her own. Men. Monsters. Is there a difference? This is the story of The Last She. (This book contains all of The Last She Series - Book 1: The Last She, Book 2: The Last City and Book 3: The Last Creation) [[word count: 250,000-300,000 words]]

This is just a fan translation. All original content and rights belongs to the original author/publisher. Synopsis: Shi Hanli, with her cool handsome features and a sharp, short haircut, found herself transmigrated into a post-apocalyptic novel. When she first awoke, her body was covered in mud and blood, the sound of flesh being chewed echoed nearby, and a knife was hurtling toward her forehead, poised to execute her as a "zombie." The System arrived belatedly, informing Shi Hanli that due to a programming error, she hadn't become the naive and sweet female supporting character she was supposed to be. Instead, her original self had transmigrated, meaning she didn't need to follow the plot. However, the System's built-in Evolution System still belonged to her. From now on, her sole mission was to "survive." As Shi Hanli gazed at the zombie-infested world, her eyes gleamed with the predatory hunger of a wolf spotting a flock of sheep. As time passed, everyone in this world seemed to have developed some kind of mistaken perception. One of the male lead's subordinates knelt on one knee, his eyes filled with reverence. "Big Brother Shi, your will is the direction my sword points. I will follow you for life." The male lead's confidante blushed shyly. "Han Li, you are the only warmth I can feel in this cruel apocalypse." A world-destroying villain willingly abandoned his obsession for her, reverting to his former brilliant self. "If it's you, I won't oppose you." The male lead himself was utterly awestruck. "Brother Shi! Dad!" When others in the apocalypse mentioned Shi Hanli's name, they would say, "Lord Shi? He's the jade-faced god of death. How many lives do you have to dare provoke him?" Shi Hanli: ...... Isn't this supposed to be the male lead's script? Why does everyone seem to think I'm the male lead?

The scars of a catastrophic global war still shape daily life, and survival often depends on avoiding the forbidden remnants of the past and the people who control what remains. When chance leads her to the edge of an obscure exclusion zone, a place locals whisper about but never enter, her fragile routine begins to unravel. Drawn by an instinct she cannot explain, she crosses into territory meant to remain unreachable and meets a mysterious man known only as Estivan. Isolation has shaped him into something both magnetic and unsettling. Their proximity awakens curiosity sharpened by danger. Distance dissolves into observation, observation into tension, and tension into a charged intimacy neither fully understands. Attraction emerges alongside unease, restraint, control, dependency, and obsession, threaded through power, vulnerability, and the unfamiliar sensation of being truly seen. As their paths intertwine, Ivo confronts relics of a forgotten age, unsettling truths buried beneath superstition, and questions about her place in a world built on silence. Some boundaries exist for a reason.

In a world dominated by werewolves, Odette leads a simple, human life until what was supposed to be the best day of her life, her wedding day, takes a nightmarish turn. Luca, a powerful world-leader and Alpha, claims her as his mate, which forces her into a desperate fight for her freedom. Now on the run, Odette encounters challenges that will test her wit and strength. Will she surrender to the relentless pursuit, or fight back? ~~~ I round the corner to see a group of freakishly-tall and handsome men. There were three men in the group, one instantly stood out to me even with his back toward me. He had deep black hair and I could tell strong lean muscles were hidden beneath his button-up shirt. I falter in my steps a bit, something in my mind telling me to go another way, to ask someone else for help with directions. But I keep walking closer. Something else within me tells me it will be okay. As I get closer, the two men who were facing my direction look towards me and I stop, keeping a safe distance. Hopefully they are able to help me, and not turn me away just because I'm a human. "Hi, um, could you tell me where the front desk is?" The man whose back was facing towards me stiffened. "I think I'm a little..." The man turned toward me so quickly it made my heartbeat waver. His deep blue eyes pierced into my brown ones and called out to me. His jawline was chiseled to perfection, lips parted slightly in awe. Every feature of his face was meticulously handcrafted by God. I never thought I could find a wolf so elegant. He was...beautiful. Something in the air shifted. I could feel it in my bones. "...lost," I finished my sentence after a brief pause. No one answered me. Did I say something wrong? I look between the three of them and see that the two men behind the man who was staring so intently at me were looking between me and him. "Mate."

She should not exist in this world. She comes from a past where her story was meant to end - and yet she awakens in a reality where every day is a fight for survival and where morality depends on who is holding the knife. She learns this world slowly: its brutal rules, fragile alliances, and the people forced to choose between their hearts and their responsibilities. She sees more, knows more - and that is precisely why she cannot be trusted. On her path stand people torn between who they must be and who they wish they could be. Relationships are born from tension, anger, and unspoken promises - where trust is a weapon, and love is a weakness. A story about a world where surviving does not always mean living. _______________________________ The story starts at the beggining of season 2 of the100 and follows main threats. ???: "To anyone listening who has not been infected, this is a message from the Environmental Logistics & Solutions Enterprise. As you are keenly aware, our dear Earth has seen better days before the Great Desertification. And to make matters even more dire, our own attempt at combating it has turned against us. This planet is beyond our control, and beyond our help. Which is why we have taken to the stars for a fresh new start." "By the time you've received this -- we, among the rest of humanity's remnants, have set a course for the identified exoplanet Si-[**static**] confirmed to support life. As for you and anyone else unfortunate enough to've been left behind, our organization has left a parting gift to help mitigate this global ordeal. And so, we ask that you be well-advised." "If you happen to come across any carrier of the Absolute Zero virus, direct skin contact is to be avoided at all cost. It cannot be treated, and despite our best efforts, there is no known cure. So in terms of safety precautions, long-ranged heat-based weaponry is highly recommended; Flame throwers, explosives, lasers, etc. But keep in mind that they can only slow them down, not kill them outright. The cold from within will not allow that." "Furthermore, hiding from plain sight is not a viable option. They will know where you are. Not by your tracks, but by-[***static***]-atter-[***static***]-verall survival strategy is to stay as far away from the carrier as possible -- and allow our trusted St. Helio units to intervene. Rest assured, they will keep them subdued. And if all goes according to plan, the virus we created will spread no further." "Those of you who remain here have our deepest apologies. As well as our sincerest hope that you may persevere, just as human life has done since the very beginning. Farewell, good luck, and Godspeed. This world rests in your hands now." The world is dead, and we killed it. End of Ends, a powerful living power source that promised mystical abilities, infinite energy, and a way to save us all from Entropy itself ... immediately had any way of accessing it sold off to the highest bidders. Stars have gone extinct. The past and future were twisted until they broke. Thermo-arcanal war ravaged the planet. The rulers of the world were slain by the artificial God they hoped would help them regain control of the situation. That same artificial God finished off what remained of life itself. And everyone who predicted it'd probably be an unhappy ending was proven right. The end. Or so it seemed. Instead, the post-apocalyptic world of Avarei limps along. People try to survive, in a wasteland now filled with skyscraper ruins, toxic oceans, and monsters galore, where everything is trying to kill you, where Elves, Orcs, Duergars, and even a few Aliens walk among us, and where people can control Fire and Water and Earth and Wind with their minds. They try to survive as the Nihiline, that eldritch abyss created by the universe's Heat Death, that in a few years will consume what remains of reality, stares into people's souls and makes them go insane; so don't look up for too long. And they try to survive when people like Yaouei cause trouble for everyone. The world is ending, so in her mind there are no rules, and even though technically she's been hired by the local Questants Guild as an adventurer, she's more inclined to do things her way even if people complain. It's not like it's gonna matter in the end, after all. Time's up. We blew it up. Nothing matters. Or does it? Maybe there's more to Yaouei than she wants to admit. There have been strange occurrences and rumors ever since she drifted into Allewood Village. Maybe jhe can be the key to saving this world after all ... or finally putting it all out of its misery ... Either way, no one's getting out of here with a happy ending this time either, probably ...

*Note: This is based off an old and discontinued story that had its outline scrapped and reworked to fit the prompts for the ONC. Essentially, a new book for this competition. Only the core concept, title and the protagonist's name are kept the same.* ----- A ribbon, a hair-clip, a pen, a notebook and a radio, held in the arms of a sixteen year old girl... ... It's been four hundred of years since The Rot ravaged the world and sent people downward with its decaying touch, four hundred years since humanity has inhaled even a breath of fresh air and twenty years since the first fifth-generation child was born in the shelters deep underground. And now, beneath the poisoned earth at the edge of the world, only six of them remain living in the last surviving shelter, the last surviving Lifelight illuminating a darkened board. For the rest were claimed by The Rot. Protected at all costs, older generations shields the worst of the consequences, the worst of the panic, but truth cannot be hidden forever. With increasing tensions and increasing crime, it becomes clear that there are only two outcomes: to die in strife or to die in silence. That is, until an inexplicable hope presents itself in the form of a radio transmission originating from the single most uninhabitable place on Earth, the surface. But it's too late, too late for most, other than the most protected, the youngest, the fifth generation. The waiting game is over and now it's a race against time. Before The Rot reaches them, before they run out of supplies, the handful of survivors must reach out and find the source of the transmission. From this, there are only two possible results: death or a secured future.

Earth has fallen. When the planet crosses its final climate tipping point, temperatures rise, crops fail, and billions are forced onto the move. Diplomacy gives way to ultimatums, then to war. From unassuming laboratories to streets drowning in heat and hunger, a fractured world stumbles toward its final reckoning. As famine and conflict spread, international order dissolves into violence and blame, and armies march north through ruins chasing a future that no longer exists. Yet amid the despair, a radical plan takes shape to move a fragment of humanity to the red sands of Mars. As Earth burns and the heavens fill with refugees, one truth becomes unavoidable: the future belongs only to those willing to sacrifice everything. In the chaos of the apocalypse, a new kind of security service is needed to enforce order where nations have failed. From the ashes of Old Earth, the Sunguard rises. Scorched Earth is a sweeping hard-science epic about collapse, survival, and the cost of choosing a future when the present is already lost.
