Max Caulfield has returned to her home-town of Arcadia Bay, Oregon after five years of absence. She came back to finish her studies under the tutelage of the world renowned Mark Jefferson and, most importantly, to reunite with her best friend, Chloe Price. Unfortunately, fate is cruel. Tragedy has struck. Mark Jefferson has vanished and her former best friend, the only person that has ever really understood Max, has a new friend. A very close friend. Rachel Amber.

After the fire at Caledon, Max and Chloe hit the road with Chloe's band. After the band's last gig before a long hiatus, Max and Chloe end up back home in Max's log cabin. Just when they thought the universe was done messing with them for awhile, it laughs in their faces as another disaster strikes. This time, the universe seems to be targeting Max alone.

Max and Chloe have been through everything together. They've been in a relationship for years, and now with a marriage promise made, things are starting to get serious. But then a new face appears around Arcadia Bay, and Chloe starts to spend an awfully large amount of time with her. Will Chloe and Max find a way to work things out? Or will Chloe's new friendship split Max and her apart for good? This fanfiction takes place in Arcadia Bay. It is an AU where almost all of the events happened, but there was no time travel, and the aforementioned events happened in High School. The girls are now in college, and things have changed. A new face, Rachel Amber appears, and Max feels like she's being replaced.
