"This July's gonna bring more than just fireworks and pool parties...I feel it." - Valhalla Westbrooks Valhalla Westbrooks (hippie-ass mama, don't ask about the name) is happy as hell to finally be away from the susness of her own house. (It's kinda hard when your family unit is comprised of Mrs. Westbrooks [squared], a big brother and a little sister.) Maybe leaving Chicago, only armed with box braids and a two-way Amtrak ticket to St. Louis to see both sides of her formerly estranged family, is good for her to get some fresh air since everybody knows there's no air in the middle. Squeezed in the middle of two siblings made her a little cramped, personality-wise, and she doesn't wanna be that girl anymore. She's determined to be a totally different Valhalla when she gets back, and with her cousin's help, she will be after 31 eventful days are up. The switch from clear lip gloss to dark lipstick, from meekness to confidence, from unknowing to sure of seemingly everything... yes, July brings about more than just fireworks.

"Every night I fall asleep, he appears in my dreams. It's the same dream all over again, but everyday I find myself craving it more. I walk closer to a tall dark silhouette but his features are not as clear at first, I am just able to look at his lean figure. But then suddenly his features come to life and I'm able to gaze into his warm brown eyes as he holds me close. I brush my thumb under his scar on his cheek thinking of how insecure he is about it but it has always been my favorite thing about him. The way he had something different, something that made him stand out from others. He would then smile as he moved his hand from my waist and held my wrist. His smile was another one of my favorite things about him, his smile always brightened up my day.
