This is a poetry piece on King Huiwen and his consort Mi Yue/Mi Ba Zi later known as Queen Dowager Xuan. Loosely based on factual and fictional portrayals of them inspired me to write this. A little backstory: King Huiwen of Qin is the son of Duke Xiao and succeeded his father. The first to name himself king instead of duke. When King Huiwen was still crown prince, he committed a horrible crime and was exiled for several years due to the great minister, Shang Yang's law reform policies at the time. It was said Huiwen held a personal grudge against Shang Yang. When he took the throne, he had Shang Yang killed on crimes of treason. However, Huiwen kept the reformed systems left by his father and Shang Yang, utilizing it to its full capacity. Mi Yue was the daughter of King Wei of Chu. Her childhood was full of tears and hardship being a princess but that never stopped her from fighting to survive. She is China's first queen regent and a woman who knew how to play the game of politics.
