Being queer in Nigeria today is complicated. Some of us might say we're lucky, while others would argue we aren't. But whether you think we're lucky or not, there was a time when things were much worse. There was a time when women who loved women believed something was wrong with them. A time when not being attracted to men or remaining unmarried could make society label you a witch. Many lived their entire lives confused, ashamed, and afraid because they had no words for what they felt. The Memory of Us was born from that question: What became of those women? It tells the story of Mara and Nana, two women whose love wasn't just forbidden by family or neighbours, but by an entire system that never gave them the chance to understand, let alone live, the truth of who they were. This is a historical coming-of-age drama, a forbidden romance, a family saga, and a second-chance story spanning nearly fifty years. It's a story about love, sacrifice, heartbreak, resilience, and the memories that stay with us long after people are gone. This is my first novel, and I'd genuinely love for you to read it. If you do, please be honest. Tell me what you loved, what you didn't, and what you think I could improve. Every piece of constructive criticism will help me grow as a writer. I hope Mara and Nana's story stays with you long after you've turned the final page.

Winter has away of making lonely people notice each other. Gregory is trying to build a future before life hardens him completely. With a prison job application in one pocket and a pack of cigarettes in the other, he drifts through cold city nights carrying more uncertainty than hope. Then a torn coat pocket leads him into Whitmore Tailors - a small shop glowing warmly against the snow. Inside, he meets Daniel Whitmore. Quietly observant and impossible to forget, Daniel repairs more than fabric. What begins as a simple encounter between two strangers slowly unfolds into something deeper: late-night phone calls, shared silences, unspoken fears, and the fragile comfort of being truly seen by another person. But Gregory's world is pulling him toward something darker. As he steps closer to a career inside the prison system, the weight of violence, isolation, and emotional exhaustion threatens to consume the softer parts of himself Daniel seems determined to protect. Set against snowy streets, dim apartment lights, and the timeless warmth of a tailor shop, The Whitmore Tailors is a deeply emotional story about intimacy, masculinity, loneliness, and the terrifying vulnerability of love. Some things are stitched together slowly. Others unravel all at once.

Fate. Everyone swears it's beautiful. That the goddess knows best. That when she hands you a mate, it's the perfect match, written in the stars. Sounds sweet, right? Yeah, tell that to me-an omega who's spent his whole life being treated like trash by the pack that should've been my family. My father, the almighty Alpha of the BloodRose Shadows, made sure I knew what disappointment looked like before he walked out. My mom stayed, but that didn't stop the whispers, the stares, the hands that shoved me lower every chance they got. Around here, "omega" just means servant. Disposable. Forgettable. Now the clock's ticking. In two days, I turn eighteen. In two days, the goddess will chain me to someone for the rest of my life. My mate. My "perfect other half." Can you feel the excitement? Yeah, me neither. This is my story-of fate's cruel joke, of blood that never protected me, and of the bond I never asked for. Because destiny doesn't always save you. Sometimes, it just breaks you. When the Tideborn are forced to leave their sea caves beneath the chalk cliffs of England's south coast, they are sent to live-and learn-among land kids who know nothing of tides that remember names or skin that still tastes of salt. Elliot Rowan was raised to endure the sea, not question it. Matthew Hawthorne has lived by the water all his life without ever belonging to it. Between classrooms, storm shelters, and quiet beaches, a bond forms that neither of them knows how to name-one that asks impossible questions about love, home, and what it means to choose a future without erasing the past. As the sea calls its children back and time pulls them apart, every relationship is tested by distance, grief, and the slow understanding that some loves don't disappear-they wait. A soft, melancholic coming-of-age story about land and water, memory and change, and the people we become when we are finally brave enough to choose. Main Characters Elliot Rowan A Tideborn boy raised beneath the sea, bound by tradition and quiet devotion. Struggles between loyalty to his past and the future he secretly wants. Matthew "Matt" Hawthorne A land-born boy with an instinctive gentleness and an emotional steadiness that draws others in. Loves without strategy, even when it hurts. Isla Meredith A Tideborn girl defined by patience and emotional resilience. Knows when to hold on-and when to let go. Jonah Vale A Tideborn boy whose anger masks a deep fear of abandonment. Protective, reactive, and slowly learning how to soften. Theo Ashley An older land-born observer, already half-gone from the town. Represents what happens when you stay too long without choosing. Trigger Warnings / Content Notes * Slow-burn romance * Emotional repression * Separation / disappearance * Grief and loss (non-graphic) * Identity conflict * Coming-of-age themes * Mild angst * Mentions of environmental collapse (non-explicit) *(No explicit sexual content. Romance remains soft and emotional.)*

Told through fragments, memories, and the silence of absence, it captures their love and the ache of waiting for a love that will never come home. Can the sea give Selene meaning to her grief? Or will she join the tides before she can truly mourn?
