"إنَّ اللهَ مع الصابرين" ... أُردّدها في سرّي كأنّي أتشبّث بها من غرقٍ خفيّ، كنتُ أنتظر... أنتظر ذلك اليوم الذي لا أُحصي فيه ساعاته، بل أعيشه حقًّا، يومًا تتّسع فيه روحي بعد ضيق، وتخطو فيه قدماي خارج ذلك الباب، لا حبيسة بين ظلّين يراقبانني، ولا أسيرة جدرانٍ ضاقت حتى على أحلامي. كنتُ أُحدّث نفسي عن الحرية كما يُحدّث الغريب عن وطنٍ لم يره، وأتجوّل بخيالي حيث لا يُغلق عليّ باب، ولا تُحاصرني رفوف الكتب التي كانت ملجئي وسجني في آنٍ واحد. كنتُ أؤمن... رغم كلّ شيء... أنّ الله لا يترك قلبًا تعلّق به، وأنّ للدعاء بابًا وإن طال انتظاره. حتى استُجيب همسي... في لحظةٍ لم أرتّب لها، حين جاء هو... لا كغيره، بل كإجابةٍ تسلّلت إلى قدري بهدوء. نظرتُ إليه، وكأنّ في عينيه طريقًا لم أعرفه من قبل... فهمستُ له... "فُكَّ قيدي..."
