Jaime Kelly, also known as "Books", is the leader of the Lower Manhattan Newsies. She loves her Newsies like they're her family. Every 8 Days she goes to see her best friend, Spot, the "King of Brooklyn". Everything seems to be going pretty normal until one day when she and her brother, Jack, start a strike against "The World". But what happens when memories of her past starts to resurface? And what happens when she makes a bet with " King Idiot" that in 8 days he could get her to say 8 letters? Note: ALL CHARACTERS MENTIONED IN THE 1992 FILM BELONG TO DISNEY. I DO NOT OWN ANY CHARACTERS EXCEPT FOR JAIME AND ANY OTHER CHARACTERS NOT MENTIONED IN THE NEWSIES 1992 FILM!

Everyone knows that being a newsie is hard work, but few know the difficulties of leading them every day, and even fewer know how hard running Brooklyn is. When Race is welcomed into Brooklyn, he gains direct access to the most mysterious newsie in New York - Spot Conlon. As Spot warms to Race's awkward but endearing personality, he shows him a new side to the leader of the Brooklyn newsies. But as the strike comes to pass, and Spot's hidden past comes to light, Race becomes conflicted, only knowing one thing for sure... it's a long way down. WARNINGS: This work will deal with topics including - Mental Health Violence Time-related attitudes (there are mentions/ inferences of homophobia) - The word 'gay' is not used, as it was not used in the 1890s, however no slurs are used either. - This may be uncomfortable specifically for people who have religion-related trauma in regard to sexuality. Minor Character death (past) Swearing - Also kept period appropriate, although much of it is still in use today If you know you may find any of these topics uncomfortable, please proceed with caution. Brand New Day follows Valerie, a young Newsie in 1899 Manhattan, as she records her thoughts in a journal she will slowly grow to love. She uses this journal to figure herself out, finding information about her past. Through her writing, her world slowly unfolds; from her routines with Jack and Crutchie to the pressure of surviving day by day in a city that does not make things easy for people like them. Note from me! This is a Newsies OC insert type of thing! Please please please give me feedback! This is the first fanfic I'm uploading on this account, so please bear that in mind while you're reading it!

The title says it all. I can't write but here I am. This is just for if a little idea pops into my head or if I have writers block on my main story. These will usually be Javid or Sprace.
