Autism exists, and I know this for certain, that's because I have high-functioning Autism, I also have high-functioning Asperger's syndrome and ADHD. But I'm one of the lucky ones when it comes to autism, I can walk, talk just fine, and function as a normal person. Others, aren't so lucky, they can have speech impediments or walking disabilities, and sometimes, they can't even talk. My Godmother and also my adoptive mother just found an autism awareness foundation called Autism Speaks. Most kids with autism, myself included, have a hard time telling people how they really feel deep down. Some kids can't tell their feelings to anyone at all. With me, saying them out loud is too hard, so instead of saying them or writing them with a pen or pencil, I type them. I decided to start this book to raise awareness about different things. But instead of just blabbing about it, I'm going to say it with poetry and short stories, so enjoy the book.

Taken from my blog, The Diary of a Worrier Warrior, I decided to write something a little different. I wouldn't say I wrote it with the intention of it being "poetry", but from responses so far it seems to be classed as that. It is a piece that came straight from the heart at my recent low point. A point of darkness where I could no longer see a light to guide me home. This piece is raw and true. Little did I know it would be the start of my recovery, but here I am, following the light from my lighthouse to find my way home.

Pain, we've all felt it, maybe that one scrape on your knee, or the bruise. Possibly your mind, or your soul. This story focuses on physical and emotional pain, such as trauma, or abu$e. Don't worry, these chapters aren't too graphic.

I am bent, But not broken. I am scarred, But not disfigured. I am sad, But I am not hopeless. I am tired, But not lifeless. I am angry, But not bitter. I am afraid, But not powerless. And I will never give up. They keep chasing me. But haven't they heard the saying? 'What doesn't kill you makes you stronger.' So they should have killed me when they had the chance. **** But I'm getting ahead of myself. Let me start from the beginning, when they should have let me go. It all started at the beginning of year eleven where I was seriously debating in my head whether or not to go inside the school or drive away and tell my parents I did go, of course they always know when I am lying so school was the only option. I really didn't want to walk into the local hellhole that kids are forced to go to, a place that breaks their will and then spits them out after seven hours of total torture five days a week. **** Lacey Simmons was you're average teenage girl. But throw in a series of events that happened a couple months back, a dethroned queen bee that's secretly out to get you, a mysterious guy that won't leave you alone, a determined, arrogant, totally drop dead gorgeous, and self-centered player bad boy and his group of hot misfits and Lacey's life is just bound to take a turn for the worse. With only one advantage of no one knowing who she really is, Lacey will find herself in many difficult and complicated situations. **** This is my first story so please tell me what you think. Sorry for wasting your time if you think it's rubbish. If you plan to comment or anything feel free to do so, but only constructive criticism please. Thank you for giving this story a chance. Make_People_Smile. xoxo
