The island, rich in resources and of strategic value to the empires at war, sought out the land for themselves. Years of fighting saw the defenders of Arcania turn to the Gods for aid. With their prayers answered, the looters and pirates were defeated, yet many lived on. Those that survived began to tell tale of the Arcanian Blessings, tarnishing them as Dark Pacts and followers of a Devil Cult. Holy Orders united with the deceivers, under the guise of ridding the world of Demonic Half-Humans. Under such an assault, Arcania fell. Claudius was captured as a result of this treachery, bound into slavery to eventually become the subject of cruel experimentation. His magic, Divine in nature, but narrow in scope, only furthered the deception, as his abilities lay more in common with the Warlocks and Necromancers that scourged the land. Eventually finding himself subject to the final experiment, that to combine his life force with that of a Dark Beast of supreme intellect. The experiment forever changing him, and destroying what little sanity he had left. With his power growing and his intellect now unnaturally soaring above those of his captors, they bound him once more, cursing him into a deep slumber, perhaps never to awaken. Centuries pass and on he slept, his people scattered and disjointed have moved into near myth, setting up their own societies and embedding themselves within others for fear of discovery. Only when the Dragon's of the Ancients descend upon the land, destroying everything in their path, do things begin to change. The end of the Dragon-Age breaks the shackles, awakening him to an entirely new world. Without mind and held together by fragmented memory, the story, begins.
