Progeny of Violence... but Gentle By:Sara Al-Sharifi It has always been said that what doesn't kill you makes you stronger, but they never told us it could also make you 'gentler.' In this book, we do not document pain as a destiny, but rather the miracle that occurs within the hearts of women; where cruelty is met with compassion, and where one emerges from the wreckage of violence with a soul that refuses to scar others. We are the 'Generation' that inherited the wounds but chose not to pass them on. We are those who consciously decided to be the final line in the book of agony, and the first word in the alphabet of mercy. This book is not a plea for pity; it is a manifesto of the soft power that defeated ugliness with kindness. ‏

Hi, guys! I'm a journalist and creative from Brazil and I've been meaning to write a personal essay for quite some time. Hope you like it! :) I guess we all struggle with fear one way or the other so my story might, somehow, resonate with you. I tend to think I'm quite a courageous person. Nevertheless, due to various circumstances, fear has become a constant companion through the years, a mate even. The pandemic only made it worse, as I suddenly found myself in a new and disturbing category of humans: that of the "immunocompromised". Follow me on my journey to get to the other side of fear.

Based on real stories... Not suitable for readers under 16 years old. I spent a long time trying to understand how I ended up here. Whether it was love, loneliness, fate... or simply coincidences that I insisted on calling a story. For years, people came into and left my life like seasons that never stay for too long. Some left gentle marks, others left scars that took me years to understand. And there were those who, even after leaving, never truly disappeared from inside me. I confused feelings. I confused presence with permanence. I confused care with love. And I confused longing with destiny. There was a boy from my childhood who never stopped existing in my memory, even after disappearing from my life without explanation. There was another who appeared in the middle of chaos, made me laugh when I no longer knew how, and later showed me that not every feeling is enough to hold two people together. And there were also those moments when I thought I was living a dream... until I realized dreams can hurt too. I grew up believing love was about intensity. Later, I discovered it was also about absence. And even later, I understood it was about choices. I wasn't always strong. Most of the time, I was only trying not to fall apart while pretending everything was fine. And between falls, silences, and new beginnings, I was losing myself... and finding myself at the same time. Today, looking back, I realize it was never about who stayed or who left. It was about what remained inside me. And maybe this story isn't about them. Maybe it's about everything I needed to learn in order to finally understand a question that has followed me since the beginning: What are we, really?

"BORN INTO A FAMILY, YET BELONGING NOWHERE" Now, when I see the word burden written anywhere - in a book, on a page, in someone's sentence - it pierces me. The word is not just a word. It is me. I was a child nobody claimed-forgotten in a house full of people, left to watch love and care given to others. Behind locked doors, I learned that silence could be both my prison and my armor. This is a story of pain, resilience, and the quiet courage that rises when the world refuses to see you."* Now I believe, If I die today, I'd be happier than if I died 5 years ago. I hope it's my one of biggest achievement.
