⚠️⚠️MAJOR SPOILERS FOR THE RISE OF SKYWALKER, READ AT YOUR OWN RISK ⚠️⚠️ as the title suggests, this is an alternate ending to the movie The Rise of Skywalker. i absolutely hated the way JJ ended this movie, so i thought i'd write it the way that i wanted it to end. loosely inspired by some other fanfictions i've read on this topic. also, criticism is definitely open, i'm new to this and can use all the feedback i can get. enjoy, and may the Force be with you :)

The defeat of the emperor came at a price neither Ben nor Rey were willing to accept. What lengths will they go to to protect one another and what sacrifices will it take? As their love grows stronger, distance makes their hearts grow fonder. Ben sacrificed his life for the woman he loved. Rey will go to any length to save the man she loves. But when she discovers a heartwarming surprise, Rey realizes that to save Ben she would not only be sacrificing her own life. Can Rey protect those she loves as well as save the man she loves?

Han wasn't the only person Leia asked to help bring her son home. She went in secret to Rey, who had already once bested Kylo. Rey agreed to help the woman, and thus, in a snow-covered forest, allows Kylo Ren to gain her trust. Kylo was also given an order. Snoke told him he must kill Rey, but somehow, he found himself incapable. Imagine a world in which Rey had agreed to Kylo Ren's offer to help train her. Imagine a world in which somehow two souls meet and discover that while on opposing sides of a never ending war, they aren't exactly different. Light and dark fills them both. Rey Kenobi is a 19 year old girl who has been charged with murder, the murder of Leia Organa, Han Solo, and their son Kylo Ren. She wakes up the next morning in a cell except she's not alone, Rey's being haunted by Kylo's ghost. Now the two must work together to unravel the evidence and get the real villian behind bars. This is an alternate ending for Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker. I'm sure there are a million other endings created like this one but I thought I'd share mine anyways. Since this is an imagined ending not canon there are technically no spoilers but **SPOILER ALERT** (I mean it. Don't read this if you haven't seen TROS) this story focuses on how I imagined the story to end had Ben Solo lived. This is the ending I'm pretending really happened more or less. This is the ending that I wanted in The Rise of Skywalker. :)
